Gambling Treatment, Prevention,  and Recovery Support Services

Pathways offers gambling treatment, prevention and recovery support services in Benton, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Grundy, Marshall, and Tama Counties in Iowa.
Our services include:  

 

Prevention & Education—Primary prevention includes broad-based community programs designed to educate individuals in an effort to protect them from experiencing problems associated with problem gambling. Secondary prevention identifies issues individuals may be facing in the early stages of problem gambling, and aims to reduce the high-risk behavior. Specific prevention programs are tailored to meet the needs of each individual or group requesting our services.

 

Examples include:

• Education for the general public

• Education for those in the initial stages of problem gambling behavior

• Information for family members and concerned persons of problem gamblers.  

 

Assessment & Evaluation—Each situation is unique and deserves individual attention. To ensure appropriate and effective services, we provide a thorough evaluation of each individual requesting our services. 

 

Individual & Group Counseling—Counseling sessions are designed to meet the specific needs of each client. The frequency and number of sessions are determined on a case-by-case basis, and may include individual, group, and/or family sessions. A crisis hotline is available 24/7. Call 1-800-BETS OFF

 

Distance Treatment—Distance treatment services are available for those who qualify. This service allows individuals to participate in gambling treatment services from a remote location.  

 

Financial Counseling—Many problem gamblers find themselves in desperate financial situations by the time they choose to seek services. Financial counseling is available to help clients evaluate finances, create a budget, and discuss money management options. Those seeking help with more extensive financial situations will be referred to a financial services professional for further assistance.  

 

Family & Concerned Persons Counseling—It is important for family members and concerned persons to be involved in treatment and receive adequate support during and after the treatment process. Assistance to concerned persons is available, even if the problem gambler is not involved in treatment. 

 

Financial Aid—Pathways is sensitive to problem gamblers’ financial concerns, gambling treatment services are free for the first six sessions. A financial assessment is completed any fees for treatment services are based on a sliding fee schedule, determined by client income and ability to pay.
